The Pearson Test of English (PTE) is an English proficiency test accepted globally. It can be used to prove your English ability for university or college admissions, as well as for visa applications.

PTE Academic assesses the real-life English skills needed at university or for living abroad in English-speaking countries. It measures your listening, reading, speaking, and writing abilities in both individual and integrated ways.

PTE Academic is delivered on computer and provides results within five days. The test is divided into three main parts and lasts for approximately three hours, with an optional 10-minute break.

The PTE Academic Score Report includes:

  • Overall Score: Reflects your overall English language ability. Range: 10–90 points.
  • Communicative Skills Scores: Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing. Range: 10–90 points.
  • Enabling Skills Scores: Grammar, oral fluency, pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, and written discourse. Range: 10–90 points.

For academic purposes, 50 points in each section is considered acceptable. For immigration purposes, scores impact the points you receive: 65+ gives 10 points, while 79+ gives 20 points.
